Bakare blasts Jonathan, Tinubu; accuses them of insincerity
Tunde Bakare ,Convener of the Save Nigeria Group, SNG, and founder of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare yesterday took a swipe on President Goodluck Jonathan and All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, when he said both were not sincere on the proposed national conference.
The Vice Presidential candidate in the 2011 election who stated this at the maiden lecture of an emerging organization, Centre for Change, stressed that Jonathan and Tinubu were not saying the truth on the conference.
Bakare said Jonathan does appear to be serious with the proposed conference, noting that his body language clearly indicates that he is not interested in the idea of making the conference sovereign.
The cleric wondered why Tinubu who had been advocating for a national conference suddenly turned against the same exercise.
He, however, urged Nigerians to ensure that they fully take part in the conference, not minding the body language of the two leaders.
Similarly, Prof. Itse Sagay also accused former President, Oluesegun Obasanjo of deceiving Nigerians on the same conference during his tenure.
According to him, this was the reason he and other delegates representing the South-South opted out of their own conference.
Sagay is of the opinion that the proposed conference would enable Nigerians discuss the way forward as a country.
Also, president of the new group, Dr. Joe Oke-Odumakin, said the nation requires change in all facets to move forward
