Police commander shot dead in Benghazi A senior military police commander was killed by unidentified gunmen in the Libyan city of Benghazi on Friday, the country's official news agency, LANA, reported. Col. Ahmed al-Barghathi was the director of military police in the Libyan army, LANA said. Since the 2011 ouster of Libyan ruler Moammar Gadhafi, the country has been beset with violence. Libyan intelligence services have warned that the country is becoming a haven for al Qaeda to regroup and regenerate itself. Armed militias have roamed the country largely unchecked since Gadhafi's ouster. Numerous weapons left over after his downfall are providing divergent groups to form their own militias, government officials said
