Joseph Mbu is at it again in Abuja
Mbu Gives Motorists 24-hour Deadline To Obtain Tinted Glass Permit
Former Rivers State Commissioner of Police who was recently transferred to the FCT, Mr Joseph Mbu, announced his arrival in Abuja on Monday, with a 24-hour deadline to motorists whose vehicles have tinted glass, to obtain the necessary permit or be arrested.
Mbu, who gave the ultimatum at a news briefing on the security situation in the territory, also warned that from Wednesday, Feb. 26, vehicles plying the territory without registration numbers would be arrested.
“I want to make this pronouncement now. If you do not have a tinted glass vehicle permit, formally approved by the Inspector-General of Police, and you are not permitted to have tinted glass in your vehicle, you have between today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday) to remove it,” said Mbu.
“No vehicle will ply the streets or the highways within Abuja without an identification mark, that is to say, there must be FRSC-approved number plate affixed to your vehicle.
“We are going to enforce this law as from Wednesday this week,” he said.
Mbu appealed to motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations, saying “whatever your position is in the society, I am appealing to you to respect the law.’’
The commissioner reiterated the ban on street hawking, as well as the operations of tricycles in the city areas.
He advised operators of tricycles to strictly operate and restrict their operations to the areas the law of the FCT had approved for them.
Mbu, who said he had assessed the security situation on the Abuja-Lokoja highway, warned criminal elements in the area to steer clear of the territory and vowed to deal with them.
“I have gone to Abaji, Kwali and Gwagwalada axis up to the boundary between FCT and Kogi to ascertain security measures put in place to secure commuters travelling during the day and at night.
“We want to assure you that we will deal ruthlessly with any group of criminals or hoodlums who engage in unpatriotic violent crimes on that route,” he said
