New Rivers State Commissioner of Police On A Courtesy Call - Gov. Amaechi

The new Rivers State Police Commissioner, Tunde Odushakin has promised that the police will apply new strategy in handling the political crisis in the state. Odushakin during a courtesy visit to Governor Chibuike Amaechi at the Government House in Port Harcourt said the police will henceforth work towards accommodating all the different political interests in the state. He solicited the support of Governor Amaechi in restoring Law and order to Rivers State. In his response, Governor Amaechi asked the new Police boss not to support the PDP or the APC but to be on the side of the people. He also assured the new police commissioner of the Government's support as had been before the Era of the former CP, Joseph Mbu. Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, who has warned officers and men under his command that he will not tolerate indiscipline and corruption in the state police command
while interacting with officers and men of the Nigeria Police on his formal assumption of duty at the State Police Command was until his latest appointment, the commissioner in charge of the Special Fraud Intelligence Unit, SFIU, Lagos,he stressed his zero tolerance for corruption and cautioned that any policeman found to be corrupt and lacking in integrity would be dealt with. He, however, urged men and officers in the command to be firm, bold and courageous, advising them to always exhibit a high sense of confidence and integrity in the discharge of their responsibilities. Ogunsakin stated that he expected ‘total’ loyalty among officers and men of the command, maintaining that commitment to their job should be their watchword. “No act of indiscipline will be tolerated in this command. Everybody must be committed to his or her job. I expect total loyalty among officers and men of this Command. “Any officer that abandons his duty post will be dealt with. Everybody must be directed to the command for prompt action”, the new police commissioner says it all, and points out his sole interest is in protecting and safe guarding the lives as well as the properties of every Rivers Indigene
