Women Protest Against Police

Youth’s Killing
The women of Agudama-Epie in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have protested what they described as the poor handling of the killing of their son, Mulai George, in the wake of a land dispute with their Akenfa neighbours. Agudama-Epie and Akenfa, both neighbouring communities, clashed last November resulting in the death of the youth while several others were injured. Both have continued to lay claims to the ownership of the disputed land parts of which had been sold to property developers. The aggrieved placard-carrying women, Monday, blocked the busy Agudama-Epie stretch of the Mbiama-Yenagoa road for over two hours, chanting solidarity songs thereby causing gridlock on the route linking the state capital. They lamented the poor handling of the land dispute between them and their Akenfa neighbours by the state government and security agencies. They urged the government to brace up before the misunderstanding degenerates into full blown crisis. The paramount ruler of Agudama-Epie, Chief Wisdom Franklin in an interview frowned at the manner the state government was handling the issue between both communities
