20-yr-old electrician arraigned for theft
An auto electrician, Mr. Muyideen Ibrahim, was, on Monday, charged before an Apapa Senior Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for stealing a Hilux jeep brain box worth N380,000. Ibrahim, 20, who resides at Olodi-Apapa, Lagos, is facing charges of malicious damage and stealing. The prosecutor, Coporal Friday Inedu, told the court that the accused stole the brain box of a Hilux vehicle with number plate MUS 980 XD, where it was parked at a mechanic workshop. He said the accused broke the side glass of the vehicle and removed the brain box worth N380,000 belonging to one Mr. Vincent Ajede. He said that the vehicle was being repaired at Coconut Mechanic workshop located at Olodi Apapa, Lagos, before it was vandalised by the accused. The offences, Inedu said, were committed on September 23 at 8a.m. He said that the offences contravened Sections 285 and 348 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Section 285 of the Criminal Law stipulates three years imprisonment for stealing, while Section 348 prescribed two years. The Senior Magistrate, Mr. Adeyemi Amos, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. Amos said that the surety should show evidence of tax payment to Lagos State as part of the bail condition. The case was adjourned till October 23 for further hearing
