Clerics urge ASUU to end strike to enjoy Nigerians’ sympathy
Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities have been called upon to allow thousands of students roaming the streets to return their schools so that the union will not lose the sympathy of Nigerians.
The call was made yesterday in Ibadan by the President, Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Bishop Francis Wale Oke and the President of the Word Communication Ministries (WOCOM), Apostle Sunday Popoola at different fora in Ibadan.
Bishop Oke who spoke with newsmen ahead of a crusade entitled “Grace and Power” said it would be honourable for the university lecturers to shift on their current no-going back posture on the face-off between them and the Federal Government now that Nigerians still valued their undying passion for the rejuvenation of education sector before people got tired of the issue.
While appealing to the striking lecturers and the government to sheathe their swords in the interest of students loitering about, he said parents could no longer bear the traumatic and seeming endless solution to the face-off.
In his own view, Apostle Popoola pleaded with President Jonathan to save the country from further trouble by setting aside his second term ambition.
He said Nigerians would not forget Mr. President if he could successfully organise the National Conference and organise another free and fair election in 2015
